Having travel insurance avoids that you have big losses and it also gives you a secure feeling when traveling. I used to be the kind of person who would never have travel insurance. I mean, things won’t go wrong, don’t be so negative!

What many people don’t realize, is that you purchase travel insurance, expecting (and hoping) not to have to use it. Because if you need one, but you didn’t purchase it…you’ll be in bigger problems.

But first tell me something, would you buy a car without insurance? No, certainly not. So, why would you travel to unknown places without one? I prefer to pay for travel insurance and not using it than not having when I need it the most. This is the most important thing you should buy for your travel!

Okay, why exactly do I need a travel insurance?

Because it’s a good idea to have travel insurance in case something goes wrong. I always buy it for myself, so I can travel without concerns. Imagine your beautiful and expensive camera being stolen from you. Just like that. In a span of seconds, you lost around 400 dollars. Horrible thing to imagine, right? Yes, but the most horrible part is that things like that happen all the time on the road.

Also, you pay a couple of dollars per day to avoid spending hundreds later! It sounds like a good deal to me!

From long backpacks to a week in Paris, make sure you purchase travel insurance with coverage for medical emergencies and transportation prior to your departure. This is seriously the worst thing that can happen to you abroad and it makes the world of difference if you have the support of travel insurance or not.

In addition, it covers baggage theft, damage, and loss, which is one of the biggest complaints against airlines. Simply avoid the hassle and get cover for these items.

You need a travel insurance if:

  • If you want coverage for medical and dental emergencies;
  • If you want coverage for an emergency transport and evacuation to a medical facility or safe place;
  • If you want a non-medical emergency evacuation;
  • If you have to cancel your trip;
  • If you have to interrupt your trip after you left home;
  • If you have coverage for baggage loss, theft or damage;
  • If you get injured while practicing sports, and many other cases.

Note that the examples above don’t apply to all plans. Always read the policy details to ensure that it’s the right one for you.

Maps ‘N Bags crew, in other words, me😊, uses World Nomads and I’m very happy with this company because they offer good coverage at a fair price.
